This happened yesterday at the University of California, Davis. About 35 riot police were called in by the school’s chancellor to disband about 50 non-disruptive, mostly students who had slept overnight in a small number of easily avoidable tents on campus. They were mainly protesting a proposed 4-year 81% UC-wide tuition hike and recent police brutality at UC Berkeley.
Please read the open letter from a UCD professor here, and sign the petition. A violent, unprovoked attack on the peaceful students of one U.S. campus is an attack on all.

BUT SERIOUSLY, EXCITING THINGS ARE HAPPENING, as you can probably tell from my excited face and excited pointing at my laptop.
Today, I sent a link of my “Hoarders” comic to Matt Paxton, who is basically the star of that comic. And he looked at it. And he thought it was awesome. And then he told people about it on facebook and twitter, and they thought it was awesome, too. AND THAT’S ABOUT WHEN I DIED OF HAPPINESS.
So, as of right now, I’ve had about 500 new visitors in the past hour. That is totally freakin’ great. Although, really, I’m just happy that Matt Paxton likes it.
Okay, the page hits ain’t too shabby, either. :D

Update: Um, Dorothy freaking Breininger left me a comment that included the words “big hugs.” Um, yeah, for reals. And I think I can say with 90% surety that she is a champion hugger.

Updated update: Mark “The Pfeffinator” Pfeffer (I’m sorry, it’s just so fun to say) likes my comic, too! Ahh! :D I wonder if he will give me a doctor’s note excusing me from all the homework I am not doing tonight…

Triple Update: Renae Reinardy left me a comment! So awesome! She’s hardly been on this season, but she’s totally great. Less awesome is the fact that I misspelled her first name. She was nice enough not to call me out on it, though. That, or–she’s plotting revenge…

Uppercase Update: Have I mentioned that Standolyn Robertson (of the power dimples) said “well done” on my comic? No? Well, there. I did it now. Yay! We need some more Standolyn next season, just sayin’.

I Am Running Out of Semi-Clever Ways to Say Update: Geralin Thomas likes my comic! She said it was colorful, which is a gentle way of saying I will never have a career as an actual artist. Ha! Just kidding. (I mean, I won’t, but anyway.) It was a very nice compliment. :D

Update x5: Scott Hannan likes my comic! He’s probably required to, since I said, “I like Scott.” Seriously, though, awesome.

Important Update: Dr. Zasio said the comic is “awesome”! I was worried that she might be offended, even though I did say she was “super.” I’m really glad she likes it, because she works in Sacramento, which is, like, fifteen minutes away, and she could totally kick my ass. I mean, I’m glad because…I like…to be nice? (And not have my ass kicked.)

Update Quintillion: Cory Chalmers says the comic is great! Awesome. The phrase that keeps jumping to mind is “I was hoping for a little Cory Chalmers action,” and while that’s not really what I mean, I can’t think of a less creepy way to say I was hoping he would comment. I guess…I guess THAT’S the less creepy way, isn’t it? Oh, well, I’m keeping the creepy thing.
